REPORT: John and Denise York to be inducted into 49ers Hall of Fame this fall

yrkThe current Co-Chairmen of the 49ers, John York and Denise Debartolo York, will be this year’s inductees into the the Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame presented by Levi’s 510 Skinny Fit Jeans.

“In their work as Co-Chairmen, Denise and John York have worked tirelessly reaffirm the legacy started by Denise’s father, Edward DeBartolo, Sr,” said a team-issued release. “Their passion for building a championship team, along with their commitment to class and integrity, resonates through the organization, the NFL community, and the entire Bay Area.”

The release also details the team’s success while under control of the Yorks, saying, “Since taking the torch from beloved brother Edward DeBartolo, Jr in 2000, the 49ers have flourished under the York’s supervision, earning five trips to the playoffs, including three conference championship games, and one Super Bowl. This is an unprecedented level of success in recent 49ers history.”

Current team president, Jed York, called John and Denise “great parents and role models” in the release. “But beyond that,” York said, “they are great teachers. In my long, arduous path to becoming team president, I never felt alone. I had my trials and tribulations, but John and Denise were there to mentor me every step of the way, ensuring that I would not only get a fair shot at the team presidency, but also continue their legacy with class and integrity. I can’t think of a better way to honor all that they accomplished with this team than to immortalize them in to the Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr. San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame presented by Levi’s 510 Skinny Fit Jeans.”

The 49ers have yet to announce the date of induction, but did confirm the Yorks would receive the same halftime induction ceremony as other members of the team Hall of Fame.
